who we are

Satolah Creek Farm is a love story.

In 1988 Ron and Pippa Seichrist, who were newlyweds, bought a turn-of-the-century farm from the elderly children who had grown up on the property. Fascinated with the history, Ron and Pippa worked together on weekends to restore the original farm house, root cellar and smoke house. Over time, they added a barn, pottery studio and woodworking shop.

Who we are

Satolah Creek Farm's owners on North Georgia farm wedding venue property

During the week, the couple lived in Atlanta where they developed a new kind of creative school that allowed students to study and intern in ad agencies and design firms around the world. They expanded their school to 15 cities in eight different countries. They acquired Blackberry House, on an adjoining piece of property, so they could invite students to the farm for workshops in photography and creative writing.

Wanting to share their beautiful life, Ron and Pippa adopted a six-year-old girl from Ukraine. When she learned English, she told them she had two brothers. They quickly found her middle brother who had already been adopted by a family in Spain, then it took five years to find and adopt her oldest brother who was still in a Ukrainian orphanage. The three siblings, who had never expected to see each other again, have now spent many summers together at the farm.

When their daughter was 25, Ron and Pippa received a call from a young man asking permission to marry her. Her dream was to get married at the farm where she had spent so many special moments of her life. So Pippa got busy designing the Carriage House for the wedding.

Both of her brothers were there for her big day, along with a hundred and fifty guests, who celebrated late into the night under a beautiful white tent next to the pond, with white lights shining up into the trees.

A few months later Ron and Pippa’s school was named Global School of the Year and the duo was inducted into the Creativity Hall of Fame at a ceremony in New York City. After having spent 30 years training 20,000 young people for the creative career of their dreams, it was time to pass the baton. They sold their school and decided to live full-time at their happy place with their menagerie of critters and frequent visits from their family and graduates.

In 2023 they opened Satolah Creek Farm as a micro resort for couples wanting to turn their wedding into a relaxed multi-day experience with friends and family.

Blackberry House and the Carriage House can also be rented for family get-togethers or weekend get-aways. Guests can enjoy an immersive experience in nature and, if they are feeling creative, take a class in pottery or woodworking. You can see Pippa’s Dog Face Pottery in galleries in Clayton and Highlands.

Our Property

The Sugar Barn is located on a 45-acre Ranch in Lake Wales, in Central Florida’s Polk County. The Whidden’s purchased the ranch in 2005 and have been developing the perfect location for your barn wedding, celebration, or corporate event.

This unique venue is not an old converted barn but a beautiful new Douglas Fir structure with the warmth and character of a rustic setting, but with all the commercial amenities you need for a successful, comfortable, elegant event. The barn has been built with soaring 45-foot ceilings and a stone fireplace, beautiful crystal chandeliers, a catering kitchen, and an oversized 1200 sq ft bridal suite.

Your guests will walk along the 120-foot bridge across the stocked pond to the Wild Orange ceremony location, which also features a restroom facility and a bachelor’s cottage. The orchard next to the barn grows sugar cane, thus lending to the name The Sugar Barn.

The Sugar Barn is located only an hour south of Orlando, 30 minutes from Winter Haven and halfway between Tampa and Melbourne, so its location is an ideal gathering place. You will love celebrating your special day under the moss-covered oaks here at The Sugar Barn.

What our couples say

Wow - what a great, unexpected weekend! The Carriage House is like a fairy tale with incredibly new and modern amenities in addition to a beautiful property and friendly animals! My kids had so much fun visiting with the Candy the Donkey, Bart the Clydesdale and George the dog. There are walking trails on the roughly 45 acre property and Pippa offers up pottery classes if available. We all had a wonderful and relaxing time and it was only a 15 minute drive to the Highlands. Definitely one of the more unique stays we’ve ever had!

Satolah Farm was absolutely magical! This venue allowed me and my bridal party to have the best experience getting ready! We stayed in the beautiful Carriage House, while the men stayed in the Blackberry House. The property is so stunning, it includes beautiful backdrops and is so unique to anything else in the area! It was a wonderful experience getting to explore the area and meet the animals on the farm. We ended up with the most beautiful photographs! This was overall an amazing stay and experience! The owners had everything you could need and are so helpful! We highly recommend having your wedding or event here!

We had a wonderful wedding at Satolah Creek Farm. The property was beautifully landscaped. When we got married in May the azaleas and other flowers were blooming. Our guests enjoyed taking pictures with the donkeys, exploring the property and dancing under the stars. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue and hosts for our special day. PS: the Carriage House was a great place for the bridesmaids and family to get ready before the ceremony and relax with a glass of wine when the ceremony was over.

The venue was a one stop shop. The farm itself is absolutely gorgeous. There are two airbnbs on sight which made lodging and coordinating with the wedding party that much cheaper and stress free. The interiors of the airbnbs are beautiful especially the Carriage House. Both are filled with amazing handmade wood furniture. The price point was one of the biggest factors in deciding on Satolah. We were able to get the venue, airbnbs, and officiant for what it would have cost for just the venue elsewhere. I was overall very pleased with the experience.
